All models of the Tonale are designed with a 12.3-inch digital infotainment cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen that’ll run using a Uconnect 5 software suite that supported Amazon Alexa. The North American version will be released for the 2023 Alfa Romeo model year by having an option of 2.0-liter petrol turbocharged engine and a 1.3-liter plug-in hybrid engine. Alfa Romeo Tonale was developed through the ownership of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and underpinned by a heavily modified version of the SCCS crossover platform distributed to the Jeep Compass. Additionally, the Tonale will include an NFT that records and stores data on the car’s life cycle. Tonale can be the first Alfa Romeo to be equipped having an optional plug-in hybrid. In accordance with Alfa Romeo, the NFT will generate a certificate that could help maintain the car’s residual value.

But Alfa Romeo hasn’t gone the entire hog just yet. Such as the Stelvio, Alfa’s debut SUV, the racing-inspired sportiness is apparent from the get-go. The Alfa Romeo Tonale is the very first model from the Italian brand to integrate electrification. We particularly like what Alfa calls its ‘teledial’wheels, obtainable in 17-,18-,19- and 20-inch sizes. Being in the Stellantis family, the Tonale has all of the foundations needed to create an award-winning electric car. The Tonale is an elegant car inside and out, with advanced specs on safety and connectivity. The iconic Italian carmaker has embarked on a campaign called La Metamorfosi, which is its method of coming to terms with the potentially upsetting reality that’s a change away from fossil fuels and towards something arguably less harmful. Aimed squarely at city dwellers, the Tonale is likely to be competing with fossil-fuelled Ford Kuga, all-electric Hyundai Ioniq 5 and plug-in hybrid BMW X1 when it comes to market.

It combines a 15.5kWh battery with a 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, delivering over 30 miles of pure-electric range. Though there is no manual transmission available, a three-spoke sports tyre and flappy paddles can be found as an choice for keen drivers. While engine stop-start technology assists in maintaining the Tonale’s 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine ULEZ compliant, the possibility with the greenest smarts must be Alfa Romeo‘s first electric-petrol hybrid. Built using the Stellantis ‘global medium family’architecture, the Q4 AWD comes with a nine-speed gearbox, 2023 Alfa Romeo turbocharger and 2023 Alfa Romeo direct fuel injection – all talking with the racing heritage of the brand. The Alfa Romeo Tonale offers two powertrain choices; the Q4 AWD and (more excitingly) the PHEV Q4 AWD, which reaps all the benefits of regenerative braking technology.

With sportiness a priority for almost any Alfa, the brand spent much of its time tweaking the Tonale’s chassis, making it stiffer and lighter than versions of the SCCS platform found elsewhere in parent company Stellantis’ portfolio. Alfa fit all of the Tonale’s corners with struts and frequency-selective damping to ensure a cushty yet sporty ride. An optional electronically adjustable suspension turns up the wick even more. Alfa promises the Tonale’s brake-by-wire tech will “seamlessly” balance regenerative and mechanical braking, as well as ABS functions, while its electronic power steering will be quick and precise.

Previously, Alfa Romeo hasn’t delivered the type of interior quality that might be synonymous with reduced brand, that has been until updates on the Stelvio corrected this. The Tonale is placed to cement such improvements further, having its mix of aluminium, vegan leather and Alcantara, a synethetic suede. The inside has been designed for and round the occupants, so whenever we get the chance to test the Tonale, we’ll be expecting lots of space and comfort. Featuring the Uconnect 5, the most recent version of Alfa’s infotainment suite, built on the Android operating system, the Alfa Romeo Tonale features some cool connected features, making it more attractive to a younger audience base.

It features a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) drivetrain from the Jeep Renegade, with a front-mounted petrol engine and a rear-mounted electric motor. The Tonale Concept was unveiled in March 2019 at the Geneva Motor Show. Leading of the automobile has three-plus-three LED headlights evocative of the on the SZ and Brera. The e-mozione button on the touchscreen further tailors throttle settings, braking response, and steering feel. The Tonale has D.N.A Alfa Romeo driving selector with modes: Dual Power mode for maximum performance, Natural mode for everyday use, and Advanced Efficiency setting is only going to use electric propulsion.

Alfa Romeo Tonale was introduced in February 2022 and became the tiniest SUV marketed by the brand, and the initial new model introduced by the brand in six years. The production version was originally scheduled for release in 2021, it had been delayed until 2022 because of Alfa Romeo management demanding better range and performance from its drivetrain and the global semiconductor shortage. The Tonale is named following the Tonale mountain pass in Northern Italy. The Alfa Romeo Tonale is really a subcompact luxury crossover SUV created by Italian car manufacturer Alfa Romeo, a brand of Stellantis.
